Nestled within the lush natural rainforests deep inside Karjat, near Mumbai, Madhusudan Farm House is a contemporary extension to an existing weekend home, thoughtfully designed to embrace its tranquil surroundings while introducing a modern architectural identity. The project clearly has a different and modern design than the old building creating spacious, light-filled living environments for contemporary lifestyles.
The Brief
The extension features four well-appointed bedrooms, expansive living spaces, and a spectacular first-floor entertainment lounge with a fully equipped bar overlooking the surrounding landscape. A dramatic cantilevered balcony extends into the verdant canopy, offering uninterrupted views of the forest and creating a seamless connection between architecture and nature. Complementing the design is a beautifully landscaped terrace garden that serves as an outdoor retreat, enhancing the experience of living amidst the serenity of the hills.
The Madhusudan Farm House exemplifies AMK+Partners' philosophy of creating timeless architecture that responds sensitively to its context—combining modern design, functionality, and an enduring relationship with nature.
Large glazed openings, clean architectural lines, natural materials, and carefully curated outdoor spaces allow abundant natural light and ventilation while framing the breathtaking views of the rainforest. Every aspect of the design was conceived to blur the boundaries between indoor and outdoor living, offering a luxurious yet understated retreat that celebrates its unique natural setting.
